Building designs have moulded through millennia, relentlessly adapting to our needs, and essentially, our ever-expanding lives. Houses went from being a territorial necessity to a lifestyle denition, and yet the meaning of the word 'home' has remained constant.
Through the passage of time, we have been seeking homes that respond to our innate humanness and our instincts. From being a space where you seek shelter, comfort, a state of constancy and permanence, housing designs have evolved to a colossal extent over time. Especially the modern 'bungalows' have seen a myriad classication, along with transformation, in terms of design, style, form, materials, construction.
Amongst this plethora of existing styles of house designs, we at Archdais, seek to understand your approach of space-making for the modern bungalow. In that respect,
How does your design fit into neighbourhood fabric? How does it respond to the geographic and socio-cultural context? Does the design isolate its surroundings, and engage in the serenity of its interiors, or does it anchor itself in the exterior physical environment of the location?
How does it express itself in terms of the material and construction vocabulary? How does the design respond to the landscape on the site? Is it an integration of interiors into the exterior landscape, or does it
focus on the introverted comfort of the rooms? How does your design play with niches and openings? How does it balance the mix of intimate areas and social spaces of the house? How does the design relate to the physical environment in terms of anthropometry, scale, proportion; or even essential movement through the space?
While addressing these elements, how does it accommodate the functions and the spaces of the classic concept of the 'house'? How does the design address the play of a typical household?
