Insitu
Insitu
insitu, an interior and space design practice founded by architect Sahiba Madan thriving on the age old idea of crafting in place. Traditional craftsmen are principal carriers of the body of skills and knowledge required to use traditional materials and technologies. In a context of today, where individual scopes are so well defined in building cultures, the craftsmen are often looked at as an execution team, completely independent of design. Through the practice they are constantly trying to reconfigure the role of the architect and the craftsmen in every project. Sahiba Madan completed her Bachelors in Architecture in Mumbai. After which she worked for over two years at Studio LAB and Abraham John Architects. She is the founding partner at Kalakaari Hath (2014) a design studio focused on wall features and art impacting space. Sahiba received a citation at the gold medal jury for her final year design dissertation, 'hidden hands : re-figuring roles of the architect and craftsmen'
