Frequently asked questions

1How does a team receive their unique Teamcode code?

All the participants will only receive the unique teamcode on completion of the registration process.


2Where all do the participants need to use their unique team code?

All the participants would be using their team code on the top right corner of their sheets, as the name of their submission and wherever requested by the organizer. This code will be their only identification for the process related with this competition.


3What is the limit or cap on the number of team members and can anyone participate individually?

A team can have up to 3 members and cannot exceed this number. The participants who desire to participate individually can do so by filling and submitting the details for the team leader.


4Can I change team members after I register?

Teams are welcome to add any new members as long as their total members do not exceed 3. However they are prohibited from swapping or removing any existing member of the team. To do this please send us your request on competition@archdais.com with the details of the new team member along with the team Unique Teamcode.


5Are the teams allowed to share their work for the competition before the winners are announced by the organizer?

The participants are only permitted to share their proposal for the competition on social media or any other platform once the winners are revealed officially. Archdais will also publish each submission at this date and will be working with many design platforms to attract publication opportunities.


6What are the modes of submissions?

The participants are requested to submit their work through mail on submission@archdais.com in A1 size sheet in 150 DPI resolution formats. All the submissions will be taken digitally only.


7What should be the submission file size?

The file size should not exceed more than 10MB.


8What file name should be given to submission material?

The participants are requested to submit the files with their unique team code as its name. Follow the submission guidelines given in the brief carefully.


9What unit system should any participant adhere in case if anyone wants to show dimensions?

The participants are free to use any one of imperial or metric unit systems.


10What would the size of the sheet be?

The participants are required to use an A1 sheet i.e. (841 x 594 mm), (33.1 x 23.4 inch). The sheets must be composed in Landscape orientation, with the Unique Team Code on the top right corner.


11What should the participants do in case the payments are not available in our country?

We request the participants to send us the queries on competition@archdais.com to get an alternate payment method. We would send you all the possible payment methods.


12What does the participant do when they don’t get a unique identification code after the payment is made?

In case of such a problem we request you to send us screenshot of your payment receipt to competition@archdais.com with the “unique identification code” as subject matter within two working days of the transaction.


13Are multiple entries allowed for submission? or can we submit multiple projects in one entry only?

Participants are free to submit multiple entries or projects, but each entry must be registered by a separate email ID. One sheet will have a One project only.


14Is there any specific theme to be considered?

We urge participants to come up with their most creative concepts (theme) they have in mind and not get restricted to one. It is open for all kinds of design ideas.


15Are hand-drawn sheets allowed for submission?

Yes, they are allowed, participants can scan and mail them to us on submission@archdais.com. Follow all the submission guidelines carefully.


16Will all the participants will receive certificates for being part of the competition?

All the participants will receive digital certificates irrespective of the winners.


17What is a promocode? & How to get one? Is it mandatory for registration?

Through Promocode participants can avail discount on the competition fee. You can get it from an archdais influencer, or by tagging 5 friends in any recent post of the competition shared on social media handles of @archdais & @archdais.competitions . It is not mandatory for registration.

19Minimum number of teams eligible for Group Discount? & How to avail?

Minimum 5 Teams or more are eligible for group discount. Write us on competition@archdais.com with number of teams willing to participate in the Competition. Archdais Team will guide you with the procedure.


20What is the judging criteria for this project?

Participants will be judged on the following criteria: Design Expression, X Factor, Completeness & Representation.


21In the design do we have to show interiors in Detail?

Interiors are always a plus, but it completely depends on the participants & their design. (No Compulsion)


22Should the floor layout and area calculations be shown in the presentation?

Area calculation break-up is not a mandate, participants can choose to include it if they think it helps explain their design. This being said, all participants have to adhere minimum area requirements as per the brief.


23What is the aim of The Dharavi Project Competition?

The aim of the competition is to develop a place making project that will act as a Centre for change and community empowerment, in the heart of Dharavi, that will be wholly and truly owned by the people there. This will be a project that has the potential to become an umbrella institution for initiating change in Dharavi from within.


24What is the minimum scale of The Dharavi Project?

The maximum allowed built area area is 2000 Sq. M and the ground coverage allowance for the project is 60%.


25What is the total site area and setbacks to be followed?

The site area is 1050Sq. m and the margins are: 4.5m front margin, 2m rear margin, 2m side margins.


26What are the functions that must be considered for the project?

The programme has been developed in three parts and includes a range of activities that will help bring changes in a holistic manner and encourage people to work collectively. The project must be treated as a community common, completely public in nature. The functions are divided into 3 types: Economic, Social and Recreational. The detailed breakup of the program can be found in the brief.


27What is the site for the project?

The site chosen for this project is at the edge of the slum, at the Dharavi T-Junction, and at a walking distance from the proposed Dharavi Metro Station. The site lies right on the main Road and will provide easy access to visitors from all around the city. The Bandra Kurla complex is in close proximity to the site.


28Should we follow real time regulations for this project?

Built up area and Setbacks must be followed as mentioned in the brief. There is no height restriction and Parking area need not be considered into the program. Proper access must be provided to all spaces. Please refer to Autocad and Sketchup Files provided.


29What is the nature of the competition and is it open for all?

The Dharavi Project, is an open ideas design competition with no intentions to execute the proposals submitted in any form. The competition is open to all and students and professionals can join the competition


30Entry fee for the competition & timeline?

Fees & Timeline (All the deadlines are 11:59pm IST) 1. Early Registrations (15th June - 05th August , 2021) - Indian Nationals: INR 1500 - Foreign Nationals: USD 45 $ 2. Standard Registrations (06th August - 05th September , 2021) - Indian Nationals: INR 2000 - Foreign Nationals: USD 60 $ 3. Late Registrations (07th Sept - 20th Sept , 2021) - Indian Nationals: INR 2500 - Foreign Nationals: USD 75 $


31How do we receive our Team Code (UIC)?

You will receive your Team Code only after completing the registration process. You can also find it in your profile under My Orders.


32Where should the Team Code be used?

The Team Code must be used in the email subject line, file names, and on the submission sheets as specified. It is the only identifier used during evaluation.


33Are multiple entries allowed?

Yes, multiple entries are allowed. However, each entry must be registered separately using a unique email ID and will receive a separate Team Code.


34What should I do if I don’t receive my Team Code after payment?

Please first check your spam or promotions folder. You may also find your Team Code in the My Orders section under your profile on the Archdais website. If you still do not receive it within 24 hours of payment, kindly write to us at competition@archdais.com and share your payment confirmation or screenshot. Our team will assist you further.


35What if payment methods are not available in my country, or I face payment issues?

Please email us at competition@archdais.com and we will guide you with alternate payment methods.


36Where do we use the Team Code?

Your Team Code is your only identification for the competition. It must be used wherever requested by the organizers, including on your submission sheets and in file names, as mentioned in the submission guidelines.


37Can team members be changed after registration?

Yes, updates to team member details are allowed until the registration deadline ends. Please email competition@archdais.com with your Team Code and the updated details.


38What units should we use for drawings and dimensions?

Participants may use either metric or imperial units. Ensure dimensions are clearly marked wherever required.


39What language should the submission be in?

The official language of the competition is English. All explanatory text in submissions must be in English.


40Can we share our proposal on social media before results?

Participants are requested not to publicly share their competition proposal before the winners are officially announced, to maintain anonymity and fairness.


41Will all participants receive certificates?

Yes. All participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation irrespective of winners.


42What is a promo code? Is it mandatory? How do I get one?

A promo code is a special discount code that may be offered for certain competitions. It is not mandatory for registration, and participants can register without one at the regular fee. Promo codes, when available, may be shared through Archdais’ official social media handles. If any offer is active, the promo code can be applied during registration to avail the discount.


43Is a group discount available? How can we avail it?

Yes, a group discount is available for a minimum of 5 teams registering together. While registering, you can keep adding teams and their team members under the same registration process. Once the minimum requirement is met, the group discount will be applied automatically. After registration, each team will receive a separate Team Code. If you face any issue while availing the group discount, please write to us at competition@archdais.com and our team will assist you.


44What happens if I don’t follow submission rules?

Submissions that do not follow the required format, anonymity rules, file naming, or submission limits may be disqualified.


45Is the registration fee refundable?

No. The registration fee is non-refundable.


46Where can I find complete Terms & Conditions?

All Terms & Conditions and updated rules are available on the Archdais website under the competition page.


47Can Archdais change the timeline or competition requirements?

Only if absolutely necessary, Archdais may make limited changes to the competition timeline, submission requirements, or related guidelines. In such cases, the updated information will be shared through the official competition page and/or Archdais’ official communication channels. Participants are advised to check the competition page regularly for any important updates.


48Can I add my logo or personal branding?

No. The competition follows an anonymous evaluation process. Your submission sheet must not contain your name, logo, college name, firm name, watermark, or any other identifiable mark. Any such information on the sheet may lead to disqualification


49Can I use any font style, or are there any restrictions?

You may use any clear and readable font style in your submission. There are no specific restrictions on fonts; however, participants are advised to avoid overly decorative or hard-to-read fonts, especially where clarity of information is important for evaluation.


50Can I change team members after registering?

Yes. Team members may be updated or changed any time before submission. To request a change, please write to us at competition@archdais.com, and our team will guide you further.


51Can I add a team member later?

Yes. You may add a team member after registering, provided your total team size remains within the maximum team limit allowed for that competition. To request this, please write to us at competition@archdais.com, and our team will guide you further.


52I paid twice by mistake. What should I do?

If you have made the payment twice by mistake, please write to us at competition@archdais.com and share screenshots of both payments. Our team will review the details and assist you further.


53Are hand-drawn sheets allowed?

Yes. Hand-drawn submissions are allowed, provided they are neatly scanned and submitted in the required format mentioned in the brief.


54Can I use portrait orientation instead of landscape?

No. For this competition, the Design Proposal must be submitted as a maximum of 5 A1 sheets in landscape orientation, along with the Area Statement as a separate A4 PDF, as specified in the brief. Participants are requested to follow this format strictly to ensure consistency in review and evaluation.


55Will Archdais own my design?

No. The ownership of your design remains with you. However, by participating in the competition, you grant Archdais the right to publish, feature, and promote your submitted work across its platforms and communication materials, with due credit to the participant/team. If a design is selected for further development or execution, the respective participant/team will be contacted separately by IPDS for further communication regarding the next stage, including design fee and associated terms.


56Do I need to rename my file in a specific way?

Yes. Please name your submission file using your Team Code only.


57Will the timings be based on IST or my country’s time zone?

All competition deadlines and timings are based on Indian Standard Time (IST), regardless of the participant’s country or time zone. Participants are advised to convert the deadline accordingly from IST to their local time zone to avoid missing any stage.


58Will my identity be revealed to the jury? Can I contact the jury directly?

No. To ensure a fair and anonymous evaluation process, only your Team Code is shared with the jury. Participants are requested not to contact jurors directly regarding the competition or their submission.


59Will you send reminders before deadlines?

Yes. Registered participants do receive deadline reminders through email and/or Archdais’ official communication channels. Participants are also advised to check their spam or promotions folder in case any email is missed.


60Can teams from the same college apply for group discounts?

Yes. Group discounts are available for five or more teams registering together. The teams may be from the same college, different colleges, or even from different disciplines, as long as the required minimum number of teams is met during registration.


61Can we ask questions during the competition?

Yes. For any competition-related queries or clarifications, participants may write to competition@archdais.com. They may also use the “Ask us a Question” section available on the Archdais website after logging in.
